With prayer and fellowship, students gathered to celebrate their accomplishments and the gift of education. On Friday, Dec. 2, Esperanza College proudly commenced it’s 16th fall graduation ceremony where a total of 37 students were awarded their associate degrees. Alexandra Zareth Canales, an ordained Christian minister and Staff Chaplain for the Einstein Healthcare network in Philadelphia, was the guest keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony.

At the ceremony, valedictorian Debora Armijo, who graduated with a AA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, inspired her fellow peers to persevere. Armijo, a native from Chile, came to the Esperanza College because of its faith-based quality education. She faced the challenge of learning a new language but broke all barriers with the support of her teachers who challenged and motivated her. Armijo noted that Esperanza helped her realize she had it in her to successfully get her degree and pursue her dreams. She plans to attend Eastern’s main campus and eventually become a Spanish teacher.

The ceremony was topped off with fantastic food provided by Abi’s Catering and live music from Esperanza College Alumni Naiomy Diaz and AMLA students.
