Friday, December 4th, Esperanza College of Eastern University held a commencement ceremony for its 23rd graduating class at the Esperanza Center right here in Hunting Park.
Founder and CEO of Esperanza & Esperanza College, Rev. Luis Cortes opened the evening in prayer. In attendance were representatives of Esperanza’s Executive Council, Eastern University President Dr. Robert G. Duffet and provost Dr. R. Keith Iddings, as well as faculty, staff, family and friends of the graduates. The honored guest and commencement speaker was the Rev. Dr. Gabriel Salguero—President of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition, a powerful voice on issues that affect close to 8 million Latino evangelicals in the United States.
This class’s valedictorian was Early Childhood Education major Ciaracita Vargas who gave a stirring speech encouraging her classmates to take the lessons learned at Esperanza College as well as the feeling of empowerment that an education gives and spread it to the world around them. Her career goals are to obtain a PHD in Education, teach third grade English, and publish her auto biography. Her mission is to be a beacon of hope and empower children with quality education in under privileged communities.
We congratulate all of our graduates and are extremely proud of them and everyone who made their journey a success, including our amazing faculty and staff!
