Christine Nieves is Senior Vice President of Development for Esperanza, where she oversees a comprehensive array of fundraising programs, marketing and communications for the organization, and fosters cross departmental collaboration in support of grant impact.  

She is responsible for a six-person development team that raises financial support from corporate, foundation, individual and government sources for more than ten programs, subsidiary 501(c)3s, and institutions across the organization each year, and three marketing staff who provide brand awareness and visibility for these services. Support includes competitive funding for innovative programs such as Esperanza’s affordable rental housing land trust, Hope Digital Skills program and more. In her time at Esperanza, she has expanded the portfolio of annual fundraising events, grants and individual revenue each year.  

Ms. Nieves was previously Director of Institutional Support for Women Against Abuse, where she oversaw a robust grant portfolio, introduced a planned giving program, grew the agency’s signature fundraising event, Dish It Up, and advised board, leadership, and staff.  

Ms. Nieves is a graduate of Williams College where her thesis, Apathy Revisited, focused on housing for Puerto Ricans in New York and Philadelphia from 1964-1985. She is a passionate believer that we must understand our past to understand the present. She has been recognized in the past as a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Philadelphia. She is also a proud graduate of Prep for Prep.
