Greetings in this sacred season!
The Christian Scriptures in 1 Peter tells us: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope…” (1:3, NIV).
Emmanuel, God with us, came as a light in the darkness and His birth set off a chain of events culminating in our re-birth into everlasting life. It was one momentous chapter of the story that continues to be written through us today.
We get to write our own chapter of the story, in which we are the embodiment and multiplication of the living hope that arrived on Christmas. Every day, hope makes hard work worth it because we know the goals can be reached: Achievement for students, safety for immigrants, stable homes for families, and cohesion in neighborhoods. We carry this “Esperanza,” allow it to manifest in all that we do, and watch as it makes transformation possible under any circumstance. Hope is the knowledge that we are free to become our best selves.
On behalf of the Esperanza family, we wish you a joyous holiday celebrating the arrival of our Hope. We invite you to watch the holiday video below for a special message from the Esperanza family!
Blessings,
Rev. Luis Cortes & the Esperanza Family.
