#EsperanzaNews, Featured

We are proud to announce that two of Esperanza’s Artistas y Músicos Latinoamericanos (AMLA) professors will be honored at this year’s Feria del Barrio, on September 23rd.

Suzzette Ortiz and Jose Luis “Tino” Serrano were the selected honorees of this event that celebrates Latino culture, family, and the economic and educational aspirations of the people of North Philadelphia.

Ms. Ortiz is the Artistic Director at AMLA where she creates social change through music. She is an internationally renowned pianist, singer, arranger and composer. Four years ago, she recorded with Orquesta La Paz from Philadelphia and their album, “Déjà Vu” was nominated for 4 Latin Grammys.

With her will also be honored “Tino”, founder of the Children’s Percussion workshop “Los Rumberitos de la Cinco” at AMLA and whom also serves as a music educator in several Philadelphia Schools.

Congratulations to both of our honorees!
