Daisy Torres believes there’s always something waiting for you!
Originally from Puerto Rico, Daisy moved to Philadelphia with her first son, Bryan Daniel, in 2010. Because of her passion for working with kids, she got a job at Brightside Academy, and while working there, Daisy enrolled in Esperanza College’s Child Development Associate Certification program. With great perseverance and her professor’s support, Daisy graduated with her CDA in 2011. But she didn’t stop there.
In 2015, Daisy switched jobs, and it was her son Bryan who encouraged her to become a school director. “My son [told] me that he [could] see me being a great director one day,” said Daisy. She returned to Esperanza College for her Pennsylvania Director Credential, and even though Daisy endured a truly challenging time, she graduated with her PDC in May 2024. She thanks her family, her parents, and friends for helping her dreams become a reality.
Recently, Daisy was promoted to assistant director at The Children’s Place Preschool – Thompson. In his new role, Daisy supports her staff to make meaningful changes in their students’ lives and families across the community.
Looking to the future, Daisy’s open to getting her master’s degree and to becoming an academic coach – to uplift other early childhood educators. “The college got a lot of things to give,” said Daisy. “It makes you feel good [to] see the future … [Esperanza College] makes me feel calm. I think they are a piece of me.”
