We achieve high levels of success with our students through our individualized approach to education and provision of robust student supports. Curricular design is flexible to allow teachers to meet students’ unique strengths and weaknesses, and each student receives personalized attention from teachers, guidance counselors, and administrative and support staff. By their junior year, students must choose one of 16 concentrations as their “major” – options include journalism, dance, visual arts, film, entrepreneurship, and more. Our extraordinary facilities include art and dance studios, fully-equipped science labs, and an auditorium for student performances. We offer a variety of extra-curricular activities, including sports teams, after-school programs and clubs, and we provide tutoring services and mentoring programs. Students are required to complete 100 hours of community service to graduate, and seniors have opportunities to participate in externships with local businesses. Also, we have dual-enrollment options for seniors in partnership with Esperanza College, so students can begin accruing college credits and acclimating to the post-secondary educational environment. We require our teachers to have strong qualifications and credentials, and we invest in professional development for all our teachers and support staff. Additional success strategies include parent and community education, to help develop stronger supports for students during out-of-school hours.

Our success has enabled us to serve as advocates for school reform in Philadelphia. We continue to remain actively engaged with our school district officials and the PA Department of Education to encourage reforms that will lead to better educational outcomes for all children and youth in Philadelphia.
