The 2010 Esperanza Capacity Institute
In our on-going efforts to continue serving the many Latino non-profit organizations around the country, we have created the Esperanza Capacity Institute. This program, available once a year during the month of October, is designed to provide 14 hours of capacity training, over a two day span, to help faith-and community-based Latino organizations build a solid foundation for success.
The training, which is conducted by experienced non-profit Latino leaders and experts, is intended for pastors, professionals, board members, students, and designated officials working in churches, non-profit organizations, and community-based organizations.
Institute activities are structured in three parts: pre-conference assessment, targeted capacity training seminars, and plenaries to exhort and encourage effective paradigms for community ministry. This framework provides participants greater awareness of present organizational needs along the Continuum of Capacity, organizational development knowledge and immediate feedback from accomplished instructors. Workshops provide a platform for innovative National Latino leaders to identify issues and new approaches to leadership and community development.
Participants will learn how to
Lead in challenging times
Design community ministries
Mentor at-risk youth
Provide foreclosure counseling
Understand the basics of project management
Build effective coalitions
