Faith- and community-based organizations that serve large Hispanic populations often flounder because of lack of funding, an unclear mission, and other obstacles encountered in developing their programs and services. Many of them need assistance in maximizing their potential. Esperanza has developed an outstanding reputation for coming along side these organizations and strengthening them.
Through the Organizational Assessment Tool (OAT), Esperanza evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of faith- and community-based organizations based on their current organizational level. This self-assessment tool provides leaders with a review of the major aspects of internal organizational development such as strategic planning, fundraising, leadership, and board governance. After reviewing the OAT, we can identify the training and technical assistance needs. By addressing identified needs we can help organizations progress and improve their organizational capacity.
Esperanza is a respected and recognized capacity builder that mentors other groups with a similar mission: to serve the marginalized and underserved in Hispanic-populated communities. Towards that goal, we have awarded grants, trainings and technical assistance to over 320 organizations increasing their capacity to better serve their communities. Whether these organizations work with the homeless, the elderly, at-risk youth or families in transition, our success as a mentor is measured by the success and growth of these nonprofit groups and ministries.
