2008 Esperanza Capacity Institue

Another Esperanza Capacity Institute Success

Esperanza hosted its second Esperanza Capacity Institute on October 16–17, 2008 proving to be a complete success. Participants came from 7 states, which consist of 20 cities and 30 organizations, to take part in the two day of capacity training sessions that equipped them with the tools to develop, expand, and strengthen their organization.

The workshops focused on how to start and develop a faith-based non-profit organization. Other sessions gathered participants from established non-profits wanting to make their operations more efficient.

Participants gained knowledge while receiving immediate feedback from accomplished instructors. They learned how to identify critical issues and new approaches to leadership and community development. This year's Esperanza Capacity Institute is scheduled for October 8 - 10, 2009. This is what participants and trainers had to say about their experience
at the Esperanza Capacity Institute:

“The Institute has been instrumental for us to see what we are lacking as an organization. Now we know our strengths and weaknesses.” Yudy Cid, Mujer Te Extiende Las Manos, Bronx, NY

“There have been key classes that have opened my eyes. I just want to get home to implement everything I have learned.” Landy Pérez, Iglesia de Dios Senda Antigua, Tampa, FL

“Seeing what Esperanza has done in Philadelphia has sparked a lot of ideas of what we can do in Arizona.” Sam Santana, New Life Ministries, Tucson, AZ

“The Institute has given us an opportunity to gain knowledge and more clarity on what path our organization has to take and the strategy on where we want to go. I feel I have a partner in Esperanza… not only am I gaining knowledge but also a partner.” Lee de León, Templo Calvario, CA

“People have been inspired by Esperanza’s model. The “Latinoness” of the program, the professionalism, and the tools we are giving them … they have been impressed.” Richard Rivera, trainer, president of RR Consulting & Associates

“Participants have just touched the tip of the iceberg; they come out of here knowing what coalitions are and how to do it. I am very pleased with the Institute, participants are very motivated.” Marciana Popescu, trainer, professor of Social Policy, Graduate School of Social Service, Fordham University, NY

“Organizations that come to the Esperanza Capacity Institute are the ones who will be around for a very long time. Here they are getting the picture of what they need to do to succeed.” Eroilda Torrales, trainer, co-founder of Elite Innovative Concepts
