Mujeres de Esperanza Prayer Challenge in Washington, D.C.
June 24-25, 2008
Washington, D.C. is the seat of our national government but from June 24 to the 26, this city was the base of Esperanza’s most fervent prayers. Our ministry celebrated the Mujeres de Esperanza Prayer Challenge during the 2008 National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast and Conference. We led two powerful moments of prayer for our families, education, the arts, health, mass media, the government, and for Esperanza. We also had the honor of hosting the Prayer Room during the conference. This truly made an impact on the conference.
The greatest blessing was seeing how not only women, but also men, joined in intercession. Together we are stronger! We believe that more women (and men) will join us to pray fervently to God for our nation and our community, so that His Kingdom will come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
“When each woman came up to the microphone to pray, it was like sending God’s Word to the four cardinal points of the nation for Him to fulfill it,” said a conference participant. The word of the Lord was proclaimed and all our prayers will be answered! We expect things to change. We keep praying while preparing for a bigger gathering next year at the next National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast and Conference. Click here to see the photo gallery.

A Testament to God’s Glory at the Mujeres Event in Tampa
On November 24, 2007 Mujeres de Esperanza celebrated an event in Tampa, FL that united women of all generations in prayer and intercession. The following testimonial captures the power, the love, and the presence of the Holy Spirit that day.
For months, event coordinators had been praying that God would manifest Himself and touch the lives of all who would attend the event. Early that morning women from all around Florida started arriving, some with their spouses, joining in worship with the musical group Doble Porción. You could feel God’s presence waiting to heal our wounds, lift our spirits, and fill our souls with joy.
It was a powerful experience of prayer, with messages of faith and hope. We prayed for each other. Mothers, grandmothers, and sisters would hold hands in intercession around the younger women. Daughters and granddaughters would hug grandmothers and pray. Prayers were made for teachers, healthcare, and government workers, pastors, and homemakers. We saw tears rolling down many cheeks, heard many healing testimonies, and felt the Holy Spirit from beginning to end.
After a time of prayer we gathered for the concert. Gospel singer, Julissa, who is also a member of the Board of Mujeres de Esperanza, inspired us with her joyful praises. She was joined by gospel singer Daniel Calveti, who began to glorify God and invited the public to bring all their anxieties to the altar. Calveti, Julissa and the rest of the members of the Board united in worship and praise. We felt God’s presence among us. There was great joy, tears, comfort, hope, and love among all… and even though it was late, nobody wanted to leave. We were all sharing, laughing, loving, and feeling God’s touch.
At the end, we gave thanks to God for hearing our prayers. We felt His presence and we were motivated to be women of faith in our communities through His greatness and love.
Mujeres de Esperanza Hosts its Second Event in our Nation’s Capital
On June 14, 2007, Mujeres de Esperanza hosted the National Health Initiatives Dinner, one of the events of the 2007 National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast and Conference in Washington, D.C. The former first lady of Massachusetts, Mrs. Ann Romney, and Mrs. Grace Cavert-Nelson, wife of Senator Bill Nelson from Florida, gave words of inspiration as women of influence in our nation.
This leadership dinner focused on health issues affecting the Hispanic community and featured the release of the study, Answering the Call: How Latino Churches can Respond to the HIV/AIDS Epidemic. In addition, Christian recording artists Lali Torres and Lilly Goodman graced the night with their gospel talent.
