Advocacy Issues

Since May 16, 2002, when Esperanza hosted the first National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast, one of the primary objectives of the event has been to advocate for issues that deeply touch Hispanics across the nation. Each year, the NHPBC provides attendees with the opportunity to have face-to-face meetings with their congressional representatives through scheduled Capitol Hill visits to discuss issues that affect the Hispanic community.

The issues that we have advocated for since 2002 are as follows:
      2002 – Faith-based initiatives: Care Act
      2003 – Welfare reform
2004 – Immigration and compassionate capital grant
2005 – Immigration and healthy marriage
      2006 – Immigration
2007 – Immigration and private mortgage insurance
